Frequently Asked Questions
I need to deliver some house-style elements for a production. How do I do that? What exactly is required?
This can be mailed, posted or uploaded in an EPS/PDF/JPEG resolution.
 
Logos
 
In order for us to be able to use logos correctly in a production, we need Adobe Illustrator EPS files that are vector-oriented; this allows us to make animations of the logo.
 
We also need the fonts that are used in the logo and the fonts for the company’s house style. You can do this by setting it to a letter contour of by saving the file with the option 'included fonts' checked. If the logo is not available in the Illustrator EPS format, please contact us. Photos
 
Our preference for files containing photographs is TIFF because it is not compromised and thus of the highest quality for production purposes .TIFF, TGA, BMP or another uncompressed format is required, with a minimum resolution of 800x600. JPEG is also acceptable, providing there is not too much compression and there is also a minimum resolution of 800x600.
 
Graphics
 
We use Adobe Photoshop CS/Illustrator when working with graphics. If you  wish to deliver a file that was made in Photoshop, we would prefer the graphics as a PSD-file in layers. This allows us to make an animated video. Other than that, please include a separate True Type Font (TFF). The graphics must have a minimum resolution of 768x576 pixels. We would prefer the text layers converted to normal (graphic) layers if the file was created on an Apple/Macintosh.
If I want to have my production as a digital film, what details do you require?
The most important thing for us to know is the purpose of the digital film. Will it need to fit on a DVD, USB stick, CD-ROM, a web page?
If the film is going to be put on the internet, ask the webmaster for the following specifications:
What format? (e.g. Quicktime, WMV, Flash, AVI)
What resolution? (e.g. 720x576 pixels, can also be smaller)
What bandwidth? (e.g. 600kb per second)
Are there any eventual audio requirements/specifications? If not, we will use 128kb stereo.
How does Starsound Productions deliver a project?

We can deliver in many different formats, but we usually use a standard DVcam and/or DVD.
 

What are the specifications for delivering to Starsound Productions?

You can deliver content in the following formats, in order from most preferable to least: (H)DV, DVcam, XDcam 25, or uncompressed AVI or DV AVI, MPG2 (high bitrate) and DV Quicktime.

How do I deliver audiomaterial?

Audio material is delivered separately, and we prefer .WAV files.

It is also possible to deliver on a DAT or CD.
 

Which operating system does Starsound work with? PC or MAC?

We work with Windows systems.

We can read files received on CD's and emails. We cannot use a file if you work with a MAC and your file has a specific font.

If that is the case, change the file so that the text layers are graphic layers, and deliver it like that.

We cannot read ZIP floppys/Jazz discs.
 

How do I deliver Flash files?

We prefer Macromedia Flash files that can still be edited to ensure the highest quality.

We would like .FLA files.

We do not want .SWF files because the compromised files are used for the website.
Besides the .FLA files, we prefer photos in TIFF, PSD or high quality JPEG files, and house style elements and logos in .EPS format.
 

Can I approach SSP even though I have a small company?

Starsound Productions delivers according to the size of the company, so we work for businesses of all sizes.
 

Is there a waiting list for productions?

No, we have a large number of freelancers at our disposal so we can take on multiple projects simultaneously.

How does the FTP server work?

Use your own FTP software and enter the following FTP address:

Use the login information that you received from us.

OR

Go to the FTP server: ftp://94.211.16.75
Log in with the user name and password that you received from us.
Open the page in Windows Explorer or My Computer.
Download/upload the file by copying and pasting from this window on to your desktop.
 

Is it possible to rent studios separately?

You can hire our studios separate from the production.

We have studios for working with just audio or for images as well, with or without a technician.
 

I am a freelancer, can I contact you?

Starsound Productions works with a fixed team of freelancers, but we are always looking for more fresh talent.
Send us an email or a letter with the following information:

- details about yourself
- your resume
- show reel (link in your email or sent by post)
- price list
- whether or not you have a VAR-document

We will try to reply as soon as possible after receiving your message.

Can I apply as an actor or voice actor?
Starsound Productions works with agencies of voice actors and casting companies, but also has a modest database of actors and voice actors. Send us your information and we will enter you into our database. For casting as voice or actor, we need:

- information about yourself
- your resume
- a show reel
- your price list
- to know if you have a VAR-document
- a photo of yourself (actors)
- a demo tape (voices)
